“In This House” We Say “Truth Matters” in a String of Lies

A Mom for “Liberty” put up her own version of an “In this house” sign and the irony is breathtaking.

After harassing a neighborhood family about their “In this house” flag that she posted publicly on social media, a local Mom for Liberty put this sign on her own lawn.

Our local Mom for Liberty just posted this sign in her yard, and the irony that it says “Truth Matters” in a series of propaganda and “alternative facts” is simply breathtaking.

Let’s unpack this, shall we?

“Medicine should be evidence-based” — but only if you cherry-pick studies that support your outdated notions of sex and gender! Weirdly, they ignore the MOUNTAINS of evidence that demonstrate that gender-affirming care improves mental health and saves lives. Studies show it can have a 98–100 percent success rate — far better than most medical treatments.

“Surgery isn’t suicide prevention.” — Let’s take a step back: everyone who gets surgery — any surgery — is calculating the risk to their health and life of surgery against the risk to their health and life of NOT getting surgery. This is true whether it’s a triple bypass or a nose job.

Not all trans people will want or need surgery. For those who do, the vast majority will have surgery AFTER they are adults.

Surgeries BEFORE adulthood require parental consent, and yes, those surgeries are absolutely suicide prevention.

I think we can all agree that politicians and strangers should never decide who does and doesn’t get surgery, especially over and above a person’s medical team and family.

“Males don’t belong in women’s prisons.” — Trans women are women, duh.

But with everything wrong with our prison system, THIS is your top priority to be mad about? Not the injustice of our “justice” system and recidivism rate? Not innocent people executed under the death penalty? Yes, I’m sure your position is informed by your love for humanity and not your personal axe to grind. Uh-huh.

The reality is that cis-male prison guards pose a genuine and pervasive threat of rape and other forms of sexual assault to women in prison. A 2022 federal report on this topic, signed by Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff and Republican Senator Ron Johnson, found that two-thirds of women in federal prisons had been sexually abused by the men tasked with guarding them, including senior officials.

But why take action on that, which might involve actual work, when you can simply perform outrage about an imaginary problem?

“Sterilizing kids is a human rights violation.” — Oh, so the party of forced birth wants to talk about human rights violations now?

The party that gleefully puts migrant families in freezing cages and denies them blankets and soap?

The party that said nothing when nonwhite women and disabled people were forcibly sterilized?

I’m not even getting into the myth that trans kids have no options for fertility if they opt for medical and surgical transition.

Because the fundamental problem here is that other people’s fertility is NONE OF YOUR GODDAMN BUSINESS.

“Conservatives” need to get their minds and their laws out of our pants. Period.

“Women are adult human females.” — One thing I have noticed about women and other people who were assigned female at birth that are assumed to be women is that we LOVE being called “females.” It makes us feel like livestock. Like chattel. It reminds us of a time when our worth was calculated in cows.

Betty Friedan wrote The Feminine Mystique in 1963. Please join us in this century.

“Sex is real, gender is regressive.” — Note that the word “science” appears nowhere on this sign.

That’s because the science of sex is way more complicated than XX/XY.

I would LOVE to know how many Moms for Liberty have genetic variations outside of XX. But demanding that info would be a human rights violation.

“Pronoun mandates are compelled speech.” — Yes, and if an adult human female was born with the name Elizabeth Yonge but, after marriage and divorce, tells me she goes by Liz Lourne, then that’s compelled speech, too. What about MY 1st Amendment rights?!? Help! Help! I’m being repressed! Call the police! SOMEBODY CALL THE POLICE!

From “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” (1975). When Monty Python began performing in 1969, due to the prevalence of drag in their sketches, becoming trans suddenly became “trendy” in the BBC audience, doncha know.

“Truth matters.” — HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

[deep breath]

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

“Truth matters.” [wipes eyes] That’s a good one.

Yes, the party of “alternative facts” that brazenly spreads lies about everything from COVID to the January 6th insurrection to Trump’s devotion to Christianity to the size of the 2017 inauguration crowd clearly cares about the truth. Yep! Totally convincing. Sure, Jan. Can I interest you in buying this bridge?

“Dishonesty is not kindness.” — So glad to hear it! So y’all will stop lying now, right?

[Padme-looking-at-Anakin face] Right…?

That feeling you get when you realize you’re talking to someone who has gone to the Dark Side.

I personally would like it if conservatives would stop being hypocrites about “government out of people’s private lives” and “take personal responsibility” thankyouverymuch.

You know what else isn’t kindness? Harassing people for who they are and provoking bomb threats against schools and libraries. Just sayin’.
